Becoming objective

is a 360°-photographic-installation which resembles the classical situation of a painting class. One person at a time is invited to enter the installation via a changing room.

Slipping into the role of a nude model, the visitor can re-experience modelling for a drawing class while being the only living subject in the room. This ensures an experience in a safe and intimate setting, while the gaze of the painters allow the visitor to look at the own position in relationship to art works and the process of creation.

In Between

Two musicians, two dancers and me as visual artist/camerawoman were invited for an experiment called 'Invisible Body'. The aim was to research the influence the participants have on each other. Improvising without knowing who starts and who leads.
'In Between' shows equally dance, music and film experimentation. It shows solely the feelings of the camerawoman through her camera movements. In the post production these feelings were enhanced for the viewer by sounds, colour grading and editing, in order to get as close as possible to the camerawoman's subjective experience. Attempting to offer the viewer a closer look at the process of this interdisciplinary research.

Through experiments in psychogeographical mapping I sketched a subjective map of the Van der Pekbuurt in Amsterdam Noord. Wander About Noord combines the visitors walking experience with my own photographs.

The resulting map filled not only the whole KijkRuimte with collected sensations and details. In the neighbourhood I placed photographs which commented on the very spot where they were taken earlier during subjective experiences.

By approaching the neighbourhood in this way the project provided a variety of views for both people living there and for people coming from outside in order to experience different aspects of the surrounding.

Artistic Research Residency @ KijkRuimte, Amsterdam

September - December 2009

The Instant Exhibition is a participatory performance which produces an art exhibition and a vernissage within two hours.

The performance is acted out as if the gathering was a sales demonstration of the Instant Exhibition-art-package, giving the visitors the opportunity to try out everything from the catalogue and to perform every possible role that is connected with an art exhibition.

Visitors enter a prepared gallery space which provides empty frames and plinths for art works. Different sets of material are provided.

In the end all the empty spaces are filled by the
visitors (now painters, photographers, sculptors, curators, critics etc.), and are being instantly celebrated with the exhibition opening and critiqued during a guided tour helped by the “Instant Critic”, a tool that enables people to generate critical postmodern thought.

@ Galerie Schijnheilig, Amsterdam, March - April 2008

This performance resulted from my paper called "The Country-side of the Art World", January 2008, University of Amsterdam.
